How companies qualify for the KMI-30
A company must first pass a Shariah screening. In broad terms, its core business must be permissible (no conventional banking, insurance, alcohol, tobacco or similar), its interest-bearing debt and non-compliant investments must be below set limits relative to its assets, and only a small share of its income can come from non-compliant sources. The 30 largest qualifying companies by free-float market value, subject to liquidity requirements, form the index. The list is reviewed twice a year, so members change.
Using the list
- Shariah compliance says nothing about whether a share is cheap. Compare the P/E ratio and dividend yield within each sector.
- On the dashboard, the KMI30 button in the Stocks tab and the “KMI-30 only” box in the screener filter everything to these companies.
- Each company has its own page with dividends and latest results: see the PSX stocks list.
