Free investment calculators for Pakistan

Seven calculators for planning investments in PSX stocks and mutual funds, all running in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent anywhere or saved on our side.

SIP calculator

A systematic investment plan (SIP) means investing a fixed amount every month. Enter the monthly amount, the expected annual return and the number of years to see the final value, the total you put in and the growth on top. An optional yearly step-up shows how raising the monthly amount with your salary changes the result. Regular investing also averages your purchase price, because the same amount buys more shares when prices are low.

CAGR calculator

The compound annual growth rate is the steady yearly return that turns a starting value into an ending value over a number of years: CAGR = (end value / start value)1 / years minus 1. It is the fairest way to compare a stock, a fund and a savings account held for different lengths of time.

Compounding calculator

Shows how a lump sum grows when returns are reinvested, with the option to add to it regularly. Compounding is why time in the market matters so much: at 15% a year, money roughly doubles every five years.

Dividend income calculator

Estimates the yearly and monthly income from a portfolio of dividend-paying shares, before and after withholding tax, from the amount invested and the dividend yield. Compare it with the yields in each company's dividend history on its stock page.

Retirement calculator

Works out how much you need to invest each month to reach a retirement target, allowing for inflation, so the answer is in today's rupees rather than an inflated future figure.

Zakat calculator

Adds up gold, silver, cash, bank balances and the value of shares and fund units, subtracts liabilities, checks the total against the nisab (based on the silver price you enter) and works out zakat at 2.5% of zakatable wealth.

Salary tax calculator

Estimates income tax on a salaried income using the slabs announced in the federal budget, showing the monthly deduction and the take-home pay. Tax slabs change every budget, so check the tax year shown in the calculator.

Choosing a realistic return

Calculators are only as good as the return you assume. The KSE-100 has delivered strong long-run returns in rupees, but with deep falls along the way, and inflation in Pakistan has often been high, so a real (after-inflation) return is the better yardstick. See the KSE-100 return history for actual year-by-year figures, and KSE allocation model, results calendar for context.

Frequently asked questions

What is a SIP in Pakistan?

A systematic investment plan: investing a fixed amount every month in shares or a mutual fund. Most asset management companies in Pakistan offer monthly SIPs, and you can do the same with PSX shares through a broker.

How is CAGR calculated?

CAGR = (ending value / starting value) raised to the power of (1 / number of years), minus 1. For example, Rs 100,000 growing to Rs 200,000 in 5 years is a CAGR of about 14.9%.

How much zakat is due on shares?

Zakat is generally 2.5% of zakatable wealth held for a lunar year above the nisab. Many scholars apply it to the market value of shares held for trading; for long-term holdings opinions differ, so consult a scholar for your case.

Is my data saved when I use these calculators?

No. The calculations run in your browser and nothing you type is sent to us or stored on our servers.

What return should I assume for PSX investments?

Use a conservative figure and test a few. Look at long-run KSE-100 returns and subtract inflation to judge the real return; a higher assumption makes any plan look better than it may turn out.
